We are in our fourth year now. It used to be called Oliver “Davidson Tree Surgery”, but this was changed due to the fact the services we provide are much broader than just work on trees - site clearance, hedgerows, logging etc – however, the principal service providing bespoke tree work remains the priority.  Together with other self-employed contractors and small companies we provide a broad range of services to meet clients' objectives.   We are based in Herefordshire, but we travel all over the country for larger contracts. Oli Davidson (the founder) also contracts with Bartlett Tree Experts, which is a large tree services company that works all over Canada and North America.

We enjoy close relationships with our clients.  Communication is important to us.  We always aim to please.  We always like to provide an estimate for services prior to contract that sets out the scope of work and the desired end result.  We can also provide written 'Tree Surveys' and 'Advisories'.  We sometimes use the clever Harry Corbett to fly his drone to capture the overview on large projects.  

 

Often clients are looking for an holistic solution that involves not just tree work, but also landscaping, fencing and other work.  For landscaping we call in the knowledgable and diligent Ben Trow and for fencing the immaculate Graham Jones.

We are very much environmentally focussed and encourage clients to replace trees that are felled with new trees. We intend to promote the planting of a new tree (planted in a place of choosing) for every tree felled as part of the service. This is to fit in with the environmental goals we all seek, and Government plans for mass planting of trees.  For this aspect of our services we are linked with the excellent Bucknell Nurseries.

We like to retain unique pieces of wood for use in furniture making - the highly skilled George Sharkey of GEPOXY is our go to man who uses the wood we source.  He will turn a unique piece of wood into an exquisite piece of furniture for clients.  We can advise on this aspect of the service.

We are dedicated to mitigate risk.  During the last 10 years, 24 tree surgeons/arborists have been killed during tree work and nearly 1,400 have suffered an injury. The key causes of the accidents are: chainsaws, falls from height or being struck by falling timber. Most would be deemed avoidable.  Accordingly, we ensure that proper risk assessment is carried out for all tasks, and not just climbing tasks.

 

The key thing to do before you engage anyone for tree work; demand to see their qualifications and insurance policy. This doesn’t sound much, but it would be a disaster if very expensive damage was caused through negligence on your property and the person you engaged turned out to be unqualified and uninsured.  We can provide evidence of an insurance policy in force and relevant and necessary qualifications.  Our equipment is in date; climbing equipment is LOLAR compliant.
